Urban Fashion Leads Us Into a New Fashion Age

Urban fashion and hip hop fashion are two unique types of fashion that were originated by African Americans and other minorities in the most ethnic neighborhoods in Virginia, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City, Detroit, and Philadelphia. This very distinct style has become extremely popular over the course of the last 15 to 20 years. With the growing popularity of hip hop music all around the country, urban fashion has taken the forefront of the fashion industry, and as the days go by, it is only getting more and more popular.
One of the most popular brands of hip hop fashion during the 1990’s was Tommy Hilfiger clothing.
Though Hilfiger was the most popular brand during that time period, other brands were beginning to take form in the urban fashion world as well. Those brands included Calvin Klein, Nautica, and DKNY.
During one performance on Saturday Night Live, Los Angeles rapper Snoop Dogg (now Snoop Lion) wore a Tommy Hilfiger shirt during his live performance, stores all across the country sold out of that shirt the very next day.

During the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, hip hop artists from around the globe began launching their very own fashion labels. These fashion labels capitalized on their popularity in music and taste in clothing, and people began rushing the stores to by these new clothes
Some of the most popular rapper turned fashion artists include P. Diddy (Sean John), Russell Simmons (Phat Farm), and 50 Cent (GUnit Clothing).

This line of fashion has been dominated by the likes of these types of music artists, and it will only continue to become more popular.
As the popularity continues to grow, you will see a mix of new trends along with a rehash of older trends that are making their way back into
the light.
